In this four-part series, breakthrough comedian and New Comedy Award finalist Sindhu Vee explores family through the unusually diverse worlds she inhabits.
Stan means world and Sindhu is her name - welcome to Sindhustan!
Born and brought up in India, with degrees from Delhi University, Oxford University, the University of Chicago, half a PhD, a successful career in investment banking, three kids and a bizarrely gigantic labrador, Sindhu Vee decided it was time to make her parents proud and start a career in comedy.
As an Indian woman who married a Danish man, whose three kids grew up in London and call her "mate" instead of "mum", and whose parents and in-laws both live with her, Sindhu certainly has lots to talk about.
Series 1 2018
1. Sandwich Filling
First broadcast: Wednesday 4th July 2018
Born in India, educated in Delhi, Toronto, Chicago and Oxford, married to a Dane, and with three London born kids still living at home (and calling her mate) former investment banker Sindhu Vee has a unique perspective on parenting. At least the dog - a giant Labrador from Wales - understands her.
2. Unmarried Freaky Giant
First broadcast: Wednesday 11th July 2018
Stand-up comedian Sindhu Vee looks at marriage. As an Indian woman growing up in the 1970s and 1980s, Sindhu was naturally heading for an arranged marriage. But at 5'10" in a country where the average woman is just 5 feet tall, she posed an enormous problem for her mother.
3. The Marriage Marathon
First broadcast: Wednesday 18th July 2018
Stand-up comedian Sindhu Vee tells stories about her unique family life. Sindhu knows marriage is a marathon, not a sprint. She has been married for nearly 20 years. To the same person.
4. Fruits of Labour
First broadcast: Wednesday 25th July 2018
Sindhu looks at raising children in a multi-generational family. Her kids may call her 'mate' and occasionally 'bruv', but they are still the centre of the family.
